My battery arrived a few days ago. I started the electrolyte filling process as described in the instructions. After 20 minutes, I went and checked on the progress. I noted a large sticky pool oozing from the lower left rear corner of the battery. It appears that the seam where the base of the battery box is attached is cracked or isn't sealed properly and allowed the electrolyte to leak out of the first cell. I cleaned the mess and placed the battery on a pad of paper towels. Both cartons (inner and outer) appear undamaged. I called Tri-State Battery and within 5 minutes they had authorized a replacement to be shipped the next day. No need for me to return the defective item for examination. It's too bad Yuasa's QC process failed to detect the broken case during manufacturing, but outstanding customer service on the part of Tri-State.
